Jakarta (ANTARA) - Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Minister (Mendes PDTT) Abdul Halim Iskandar is optimistic that the Village Fund would facilitate the development and utilization of technology among people.

"I hope that the Village Fund would be distributed for the people's empowerment activities, such as technology-based training and development of appropriate technology that residents require," Iskandar stated during the peak event of the 22th National Applicable Technology campaign here on Monday.

Village Fund had continued to increase annually ever since the implementation of Law No. 6 of 2014 on Village, he noted.

He outlined that in 2015, the government had distributed Rp20.67 trillion, while the figure climbed to Rp46.98 trillion in 2016. In 2017 and 2018, it reached Rp60 trillion each, while in 2019, the figure rose to Rp70 trillion, and in 2020, it reached Rp71 million. In 2021, the value increased to Rp72 trillion.

Iskandar remarked that the use of appropriate technology can offer greater value, while the use of inapt technology can be counterproductive or render the people powerless.

"Advancements in technology are unavoidable in life, as it aligns with the scientific progress," he explained.

The minister expounded that the Applicable Technology Service Post (Posyantek) in districts and villages was one example of the use of pertinent technology by utilizing the citizens' institution that had been formed.
