The commission's team of investigators has conducted a crime scene investigation and met with witnesses, two suspects, and survivors of the attackJayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM)-Papua Office is probing a recent terror attack on a military post in Kisor Village, South Aifat Sub-district, Maybrat District, West Papua Province.
"The commission's team of investigators has conducted a crime scene investigation and met with witnesses, two suspects, and survivors of the attack," the commission's head, Frits B. Ramandey, revealed on Tuesday.
Speaking from Kisor Village, Ramandey said preliminary findings of the investigation indicated that the suspects had well planned and organized the assault on September 2, 2021, that claimed the lives of four soldiers.

In the early morning of September 2, members of an armed Papuan separatist terrorist group had ambushed several soldiers while they were asleep at the Kisor military post.
Four soldiers -- 2nd Sergeant Amrosius, Chief Private Dirham, First Private Zul Ansari, and First Lieutenant Dirman -- died in the attack, while two others sustained serious injuries.
The bodies of three soldiers were found at the post, while the body of another soldier was discovered in the bushes not far from the post.
Owing to the incident, several local residents had fled their homes over fears of their safety.

According to Ramandey, based on the preliminary findings of his team's investigation, the soldiers surviving the attack just fired warning shots instead of directing them at their attackers.
Due to the findings, the rights commission lauded the soldiers' response to the attackers despite being in a critical situation at that time.
The Papua-based Human Rights Commission also praised Maybrat District Head Bernard Sagrim for his care for local residents by placating them following the incident, he stated.
The commission's team of investigators continues to probe the terrorist attack case in order to uncover it, according to Ramandey.
In addition to the Komnas HAM's inquiry, the West Papua police investigated the case.
ANTARA reported earlier that eight days after four soldiers were killed in the assault, the West Papua police had arrested two suspects and launched a manhunt for 17 others.
