The police chief expressed hope that our offer to the ex-KPK officers would be accepted by them, as we urgently need to fill vacancies in our institution
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Police Public Relations Division head Police Inspector General Argo Yuwono reiterated the police's commitment to recruiting 57 ex-Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officers, as their anti-corruption commitment and track record had been proven.

"We consider ourselves as having the same anti-corruption commitment as the ex-KPK officers, and their anti-corruption track record had been proven by their work during their time in the commission," Yuwono stated during an interview video broadcasted by the Police's Public Relations Division.

The ex-KPK officers have diverse experience and backgrounds, with some of them hailing from the Police department and other law enforcement institutions, he noted.

Despite failing the civic knowledge test prerequisite for their employment status change in the KPK, the Police chief remain firm on his intent to recruit the former KPK officers in the Police force, according to Yuwono.

The recruited ex-KPK officers will be placed in the Police Criminal Investigation Agency's Corruption Crime Directorate, as the directorate is currently expanding its work and more officers are required to accommodate the expansion, the division head stated.

"The police chief expressed hope that our offer to the ex-KPK officers would be accepted by them, as we urgently need to fill vacancies in our institution," Yuwono stated.

The police's Corruption Crime Directorate currently has vacancies in corruption prevention, goods and services procurement supervision, and COVID-19 pandemic handling programme supervision departments, he noted.

"We need more officers to assist us in our duty to supervise the COVID-19 handling programme and to perform organisation duties and tasks," Yuwono stated.

Earlier, Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo conveyed his intent to recruit ex-KPK officers to President Joko Widodo in a letter sent on Friday (Sept 24, 2021). General Prabowo confirmed that the president responded in the affirmative on Monday (Sept 27) and instructed him to coordinate with the relevant ministries over the recruitment process.
