Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry reiterated official support for the export of products of small and medium halal industries to Japan through the provision of incentives for halal product development to penetrate the global market.

"We reiterated our commitment to incentivizing the halal industry," Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated here, Saturday.

Earlier, the minister and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin attended the send-off ceremony for PT Sariraya Indonesia's 101st container of halal food product exports to Japan at the Halal Industry Park Sidoarjo (HIPS), East Java, on Thursday (Sept 30).

Minister Kartasasmita also expressed his commitment to supporting halal industry products for the 2021 World Dubai Expo that takes place this month.

"We are committed to exhibiting Indonesia's halal products at the World Dubai Expo exhibition in October 2021," Kartasasmita noted in his written statement.

The ministry currently proposed revisions on Finance Ministry Regulation No. 105 of 2016 and Industry Ministry's Regulation No. 17 of 2020 to accommodate incentives for halal industry areas and allow relaxation of value-added tax for lot purchase in halal industry areas, he remarked.

PT Sariraya Indonesia owner Adi Dharma stated that the company exported onion crackers, jengkol crackers, tempeh crackers in various flavors, and palm sugar to Japan.

"Our company currently operates the largest tempeh factory in Japan, and we also operate meatball and pecel salad sauce factories there," Dharma remarked.

PT Sariraya Indonesia currently plans to expand the halal food production network by establishing a sumedang tofu factory in Nagoya and a halal product distribution centre in central Japan, according to the company owner.

"The distribution centre will accommodate halal products manufactured by industries from 34 Indonesian provinces, and we hope this would enhance Indonesia's halal food exports to Japan," Dharma remarked.

Meanwhile, President Director of HIPS Adi Tedja Surya highlighted the high level of interest among Indonesian small and medium industries to establish a factory within the HIPS industrial area.

The 15-ha area of the HIPS complex is divided into 13 large factory lots and 68 small standard factory lots designated for small and medium industries, with 32 lots occupied, Surya remarked.

The industrial area has also inked a memorandum of understanding with the Gangsu Aminbio Halal Gelatin factory to appropriate 50-ha areas for the company to develop the largest gelatin factory in Indonesia, the president director remarked.
