"We need an employment relationship that respects the diversity, ability, and potential of each individual in the work environment that is able to support different backgrounds, including disabilities," Special Staff of the Minister of Manpower Hindun Anisah said as quoted from a press release received here on Friday.
Manpower Ministry's Regulation No. 60 of 2020 necessitates provincial, district, and city governments to form a service unit for the disabled in the employment sector in order to realize the development of an inclusive workforce in the country.
The service unit is tasked with providing information on job vacancies and promote workers with disabilities to employers, offer counseling and job guidance, and conduct job analyses on workers with disabilities.

In addition, the unit is tasked with providing services to facilitate disabled workers to adjust to the work environment; enable the fulfillment of adequate accommodation for workers with disabilities at the workplace; provide information on employment contracts, wages, and working hours; as well as assist in the resolution of problems pertaining to industrial relations involving persons with disabilities.
Anisah noted that the involvement of all stakeholders is deemed necessary in handling the matter of persons with disabilities.
“The involvement of all parties is needed in accelerating the implementation of the Disability Service Unit in the Employment Sector in 2021, both in the national and regional scope," she affirmed.
According to data collected from companies and Manpower offices in provinces, districts, and cities, as of January 2021, some 551 companies are employing persons with disabilities, with a total of 4,453 disabled workers out of the total workforce reaching 536,094.
