"Random tracing will be periodically conducted as a form of limited PTM support and early (COVID-19) prevention in school clusters," head of the Tangerang City Health Service, Dr. Dini, said here on Friday.
During random screening, the Tangerang Health Service found 69 students, teachers, and school staff reactive to COVID-19, but exhibiting no symptoms, he said.
The confirmed positive cases came from several schools, so there was only one person who tested positive in one class or one school, he explained. Most of the school residents were exposed to COVID-19 while traveling out of town, visiting shopping centers, or during social interactions outside of school, he said.
Junior high schools in Tangerang began PTM on September 13, 2021, with 40 schools implementing face-to-face learning initially. A week later, on September 20, as many as 60 junior high schools rolled out offline learning under strict health protocols as part of the second stage of PTM implementation. Then, on September 27, 48 junior high schools launched PTM, starting the third stage of its implementation.
The head of the Tangerang Education Service, Jamaluddin, said face-to-face learning was carried out with the approval of all parties, such as local government and students' parents.
To participate in the offline learning, students need to obtain permission from their parents and then issue an official statement stating their willingness to join PTM in their school, he informed.
"So, PTM is not required because students can still carry out online learning. Later, the school will arrange the schedule," he added.
