If the SIAP points of 1-5 are not ready, then the PTM must be postponed.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga has urged all parties to implement the 5 SIAP (5 READY) concept in face-to-face learning (PTM), which has begun in several regions in Indonesia.

"The role of parents, teachers, schools, local governments, and the community is greatly needed, thus the children can continue learning optimally without being infected with COVID-19," she said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.

The concept of 5 SIAP comprises Children SIAP, Families SIAP, Education Units SIAP, Infrastructure SIAP, and Local Government, and Communities SIAP, she explained.

Under the Children SIAP component, children must be made to understand and comply with the health protocols, she said.

Meanwhile, Family SIAP means that parents/caregivers have to prepare the needs of the children and build their understanding so they comply with the health protocols, the minister informed.

Education Units SIAP requires educational units to be ready to implement health protocols in the environment, she said.

Infrastructure SIAP refers to ensuring infrastructure in the form of safe routes for school and public transportation meets the requirements set in the health protocols, she informed.

Lastly, Local Government and Community SIAP are meant to ensure that all regional and community leaders support the reopening of schools and are ready to oversee learning activities, she added.

"If the SIAP points of 1-5 are not ready, then the PTM must be postponed," the minister emphasized.

Amid the implementation of PTM in schools, children must be taught not to take off their masks while at school; to keep their distance while using public transportation; not to hold any objects in public transportation; to wash their hands immediately when they arrive at their destination; and to keep their distance from teachers, friends, and other school officers, Puspayoga said.

In addition, parents must always remind children to only eat their own meal prepared from home; not share food with others; change clothes immediately when they get home; and to wash their hands regularly with soap and flowing water, she added.

Teachers also need to be asked to consistently urge students to comply with the health protocols at school.

"Teachers must always remind students to wash their hands before entering class," Puspayoga said.

She also urged students not to play outside the classroom; to enter their own class immediately upon arrival; to maintain a one-meter distance while sitting with other students; to not wander in class; and to not lend their equipment to each other.

Meanwhile, she asked schools not to give break hours for students; urge students to always wash their hands with soap and running water after class; ask students to go home immediately after school is over; tell them not to stand or sit close to other people; and remind students to wash their hands and change their clothes once they reach their homes.
