Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin on Wednesday highlighted some requirements that schools need to meet in order to carry out limited face-to-face learning.

One of the requirements is that students and teachers expected to take part in teaching and learning activities in schools be vaccinated against COVID-19, said the Vice President.

"There are several rules, which are the requirements for limited face-to-face learning to be (conducted). For students, of course, it is expected that all of them have been vaccinated," Amin remarked at the Jakarta 19 Vocational High School.

During his visit to some schools in Jakarta, the Vice President said that almost all students and teachers at the schools had received the second dose of the vaccine.

"I see that almost all of them had been vaccinated twice, I asked about all of them. Then, also the teachers, everything, the infrastructure," he added.

Moreover, students and teachers can take part in limited face-to-face learning if their immediate family members are not confirmed positive for COVID-19, he noted.

In the event of students, teachers, or their family members getting exposed to COVID-19, limited face-to-face learning activities would be stopped and the school would need to be isolated, he added.

"If there are students who are exposed (to COVID-19) at their homes, they will not be allowed to participate in limited face-to-face learning. The teachers will also not be allowed to teach if they are exposed. And if someone is exposed at school, then the school will be isolated or closed," Amin said.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, who accompanied the Vice President during the visit, said the schools must be able to monitor each student and teacher to be able to conduct limited face-to-face learning sessions.

In addition, if any student or teacher remains absent for two consecutive days, the school must immediately investigate and follow up, he added.

"If a student does not attend school for two days in a row, then the school must find out what happened to them. If there is a (positive COVID-19) case, then they automatically cannot enter," he said.
