Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Archives of Indonesia (ANRI) is supporting the implementation of a gender mainstreaming strategy through the preparation of a gender archive for UNESCO's Memory of the World program.

Deputy for gender equality at the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA), Lenny N. Rosalin, made the remarks while speaking at a seminar that was broadcast live on ANRI's YouTube channel on Friday.

"The initiative taken by ANRI in preparing a gender archive for the Memory of the World (MoW) is a form of the implementation of the gender mainstreaming strategy by ANRI," she said.

"The effort to realize gender equality had been outlined in the 1945 Constitution," she pointed out.

This mandate is accommodated in Law No. 17 of 2005 concerning the National Long-Term Development Plan and is included every five years in the Presidential Regulation of the National Medium-Term Development Plan, Rosalin said.

"Every year, gender equality is included in the Presidential Regulation regarding Government Work Plans," she added.

The government has implemented its gender mainstreaming strategy to realize gender equality in Indonesia, Rosalin said. That strategy has been strengthened by Presidential Instruction No. 9/2000 on Gender Mainstreaming in National Development, she added.

The gender mainstreaming strategy is carried out by the government at every stage and process of development starting from planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, monitoring, and auditing, she informed.

All those stages are carried out by stakeholders, especially ministries and local governments, at the central, provincial, district, city, as well as village level and are carried out in all fields of development, including archives, she added.
