"Enhancing the quality of public service to reform our bureaucracy must be done by ensuring quick, affordable, and simple service to the public," he was quoted as saying in a statement that ANTARA received from the Vice Presidential Secretariat Office here on Friday.
A transparent and quick public service will lower the likelihood of illegal fees or bribery that is detrimental to the public and can diminish the service quality, Amin noted during his visit to a government public service centre in Banyuwangi District, East Java, on Thursday (Oct 21).
"Public service must be made more quick, simple, and easy for efficient bureaucracy and to prevent illegal fees and bribery from occurring," he stated.
The vice president lauded the East Java government's decision to establish 45 public service centres in 14 districts, including Banyuwangi District.

"I have learned that 45 public service centres have been established in 14 districts in East Java, and Banyuwangi has become the pioneer for the province," Amin remarked.
The public service centres are established under the government's mandate to reform national bureaucracy and facilitate the provision of optimal service to the public, as members of the public could engage and manage applications or permits to various government institutions at one place, he explained.
Amin urged regional governments to establish more public service centres to offer better public convenience while applying for permits or engaging with government officials.
"The establishment of the public service centre is a good step, and we hope all regional governments would form a public service centre in their respective regions. They could enhance the service centre by setting up a public empowerment facility with various programs to empower the society," the vice president affirmed.
