Women should improve their efforts and make a move to advance (a greater role for) women in politics and prevent the disintegration of our nation.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women who are currently working in or want to work in politics should support Indonesia Vision 2045, a researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Siti Zuhro, has said.
Women should inculcate an awareness of the crucial problems that the country is facing so that they can map out what the people need, she advised.
"It means that politics should be oriented toward the people's interests, not an individual or a group," she explained at a seminar, which was broadcast live on KPU Tasikmalaya city's YouTube channel on Friday.
With this, women could fight for concrete politics that preserves the unity of the nation and build harmony with the community and the people, she elaborated.
"To strengthen the role of women in politics, approach toward a political party is an important step that women must do," she said.
"Women should improve their efforts and make a move to advance (a greater role for) women in politics and prevent the disintegration of our nation," Zuhro said.
Women should also fight for representation quota, starting from the recruitment of legislative candidates to the determination of the election results, she added.
"It means that women should not be passive. Women in villages and in cities should work together in order to fight for the advancement of women," she remarked.
Next, women who have managed to land a seat within the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches, should work together to preserve social harmony, she emphasized.
It does not matter what their backgrounds are, whether they were entrepreneurs, bureaucrats, intellectuals, and public figures, she said.
"So that the nation's unity can be maintained and development that makes the people prosper can be realized," the researcher noted.
