Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - The number of villages in Palangka Raya that recorded zero COVID-19 cases, thereby resulting in the green tags being granted, rose from 20 to 23 villages.

"On Monday, of the 30 villages, 20 were granted the green tags. Thereafter, on last Wednesday, three more received the tags, thereby bringing the total to 23 villages having granted the green tags," Palangka Raya Mayor Fairid Naparin noted in Palangka Raya on Thursday.

According to data from the Palangka Raya COVID-19 Task Force, the 23 villages with green tags comprises four villages in Pahandut Sub-district, one in Jekan Raya Sub-district, five in Sabangau Sub-district, six in Bukit Batu Sub-district, and seven in the Rakumpit Sub-District.

The mayor pointed out that in the Palangka Raya area, five sub-districts still bore the yellow tag, or a low transmission zone, while two sub-districts were in the red zone, or the zone of high risk of transmission.

According to the city government's data, the Pahandut, Jekan Raya, and Sabangau sub-districts were granted the yellow tag. On the other hand, those with the red tags were found in the Jekan Raya Sub-district.

A total of 13,080 Palangka Raya residents contracted COVID-19 of which some 12,549 had recovered.

Some 18 COVID-19 patients are still undergoing treatment and quarantine.

Although the spread of COVID-19 in Palangka Raya has decreased, the regional government has continued to make efforts to prevent and control COVID-19.

Apart from promoting and imposing health protocols, expediting examination and case tracking, as well as offering vaccinations, the city government has limited community activities to suppress transmission of the deadly virus.

Palangka Raya City has imposed Level 2 Community Activities Restrictions until November 8, 2021.
