Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Office in Southeast Sulawesi Province arrested a married couple at the Haluoleo Airport over possession of one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine on Friday.

“In total, the married couple carried one kilogram of crystal meth,” Chief of the BNN Office’s Eradication Section Senior Commissioner Joni Triharto stated on WhatsApp on Saturday.

The married couple was arrested at around 3:30 p.m. local time on Friday (Oct 29) after they got off the Batik Air plane from Pekanbaru, Riau Province, he revealed.

They were later escorted to the BNN Office for further investigation, he noted.

“The crystal meth was hidden in underwear. The wife placed it in the cummerbund, and the husband placed it in the rear of his underwear,” he remarked.

According to Triharto, the BNN Office had spied on their activities since a week back. It is not the first time for them to have smuggled crystal meth into another province.

He noted that the BNN Office had conducted a urine test on the married couple, and they had tested negative. They are currently being held in custody at the BNN Office’s detention house, pending further investigation.
