Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - A total of 1,338,643 or 90.5 percent of the 1,479,301 targeted recipients have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination in Tangerang City, Banten, as of November 1, 2021, the Health Office has said.

The current vaccination rate will be pushed up further despite the city being at Level 1 of community activities restrictions, Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah said here on Tuesday.

The Tangerang city government will focus on the optimization of vaccine centers. This would include the door-to-door system, which is being carried out intensively by health workers at public health centers, he informed.

Wismansyah said that the Tangerang City Hospital is currently providing the Pfizer vaccine to children aged 12 years and above, the elderly, and people with comorbidities.

Residents wishing to avail the service need to register through the vaksinasi.tangerangkota.go.id webpage and will be informed of the schedule online, he informed.

"Residents who have not been vaccinated can come to the hospital and register online," he said.

Meanwhile, 65.4 percent or 967,540 people have received the second dose of the coronavirus vaccination in the city.

The city government has also urged people who have not been vaccinated to visit a vaccination center immediately or report to the local RT or RW and village or sub-district management, he said.

Head of Tangerang Health Office Dr. Dini said that the city has recorded 30,379 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with the number of active cases recorded at 23, recoveries at 29,864, and deaths at 492 as of November 1, 2021.

As of October 30, 2021, the confirmed case rate in the city was 0.92 per 100 thousand people per week, according to the Health Ministry. The hospitalization rate was recorded at 0.04 per 100 thousand people per week, it added.

The first dose vaccination coverage has been adequate at 90.10 percent, while the first dose vaccination rate among the elderly has been recorded at 63.25 percent, Dr. Dini said.

"Let's partake in vaccination as soon as possible to (assist) in the creation of herd immunity," she remarked.
