Jakarta (ANTARA) - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa expressed his gratitude after being approved by Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) as the Indonesian military (TNI) commander.

He will replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.

"Thank you," Perkasa said briefly during a public hearing (RDPU) with Commission I at the parliament building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday.

General Perkasa looked visibly moved by the decision, which was announced during the reading of the outcomes of DPR Commission I's internal meeting by its chairperson, Meutya Hafid.

After his approval was announced, several Commission I members invited Perkasa to take a group photo.

Hafid said the approval was based on the commission's internal meeting during which Perkasa made a presentation regarding his mission and vision as the candidate for the post of commander of the TNI and the factions in Commission I shared their views.
