Meanwhile, the last strategy is educating the public to be proud of local products through the Proud of Indonesian Products National Movement.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Trade Ministry has encouraged the public to use domestic products and stated that all individuals contributing positively to Indonesia’s economy were economic recovery heroes.

"Business actors, who prioritize local content, and consumers, who are proud to use domestic products, are economic recovery heroes," Director General of Domestic Trade at the ministry, Oke Nurwan, noted in a statement received here on Thursday.

Nurwan remarked that economic recovery heroes also included people, who are able to introduce Indonesian products to the international market and to make them increasingly known globally.

Furthermore, he assessed that the potential of the domestic market was quite large, so the local economy actors should be able to make the most of it.

To this end, Nurwan highlighted four strategies of the ministry to encourage the public to use more local products.

The first strategy aims to strengthen regulations to ensure the business implementation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Furthermore, the second strategy attempts to facilitate MSMEs to bolster their managerial and production capabilities.

The ministry will also increase market access for domestic products, for instance, by providing useful trade information and optimizing the role of the ministry’s overseas representatives to gain access to export markets.

"Meanwhile, the last strategy is educating the public to be proud of local products through the Proud of Indonesian Products National Movement (Gernas BBI)," the director general stated.

Thus, the ministry will continue to implement programs that can support efficiency and effectiveness in the trade sector by establishing collaboration with various related stakeholders.

Furthermore, Nurwan has assessed that members of the younger generation that are fast-paced, and pragmatic and accustomed to the digital environment will encourage changes in various sectors.

“Hence, we should strengthen our nationalism (by using more local products). Thus, the youngsters will be encouraged to become the future national economic heroes," he added.
