Some 11 percent of the districts and cities still have scores below 60 percent in terms of the mask-wearing compliance
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The compliance scores for wearing masks were still below 60 percent in some Indonesian districts and cities, COVID-19 Handling Task Force's Head of Behavioral Change, Sonny Harry B. Harmadi, stated.

"Some 11 percent of the districts and cities still have scores below 60 percent in terms of the mask-wearing compliance," Harmadi remarked at the dialog titled "Refrain at Year-End Holidays" here on Friday.

However, he noted that the people's compliance to wearing masks was still very high in general. He pointed out that the compliance rate was similar to the adherence to the safe distance rule.

According to Harmadi, health protocols must continue to be implemented as part of the efforts to prevent a likely third wave of COVID-19.

"This should be a matter of concern for us all owing to a likelihood of the third wave," he explained.

The easing of public activities in areas where the PPKM level is lowered is always followed by the tightening of health protocols through ways including by putting the digital health protocol application into use through PeduliLindungi.

"Now, everyone is used to wearing a mask, keeping their distance, and washing their hands, but remember about consistency and discipline," Harmadi added.

Harmadi noted that the PeduliLindungi application, widely used by many institutions, should be improved in terms of orderliness.

Harmadi's team also urged those looking to hold events involving large number of people to be heedful of building infrastructure on account of the fact that large-scale events have currently been allowed.

"For instance, by (ensuring there is) air circulation or ventilation and (separating) the entrance and exit ways," he expounded.

Harmadi noted that for holding large-scale events, the community is urged to make adjustments in providing facilities that can support and encourage compliance to health protocols.
