Aceh Besar (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin on Tuesday held a meeting with some esteemed Acehnese ulemas at the Dayah Mahyal Ulum Al Aziziyah boarding school in Aceh Besar, Aceh Province.

Amin, in the company of Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian; Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Ministry A. Halim Iskandar; and Acehnese Regional Secretary Taqwallah, the Aceh Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), arrived at the venue at 1:47 p.m. local time.

The respected Acehnese ulemas attending the meeting were Tgk H. Hasanoel Bashry bin H. Gadeng, Waled Nuruzzahri, and the Aceh Ulema Consultative Assembly Chairman Tgk Faisal Ali.

Amin paid a visit to Aceh to observe the COVID-19 vaccination drive at the Mahyal Ulum Al Aziziyah Boarding School.

The vice president also witnessed the symbolical handover of the We Protect Priest (KJK) Program to the three representative clerics at the venue.

Amin earlier arrived in the province at around 9:15 a.m. local time and thereafter directly chaired a limited meeting with district heads and mayors at the Aceh Governor's office.

The vice president, along with his wife Wurry and a limited entourage, took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force (TNI AU) Base in Jakarta to the Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar.

After completing a series of activities in Aceh, Amin will directly head to the Soewondo Air Force Base in North Sumatra to stay over and continue his working visits on the second day in Medan on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
