Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has asked all parties to ensure that the potential demographic bonus — one of the factors that can help realize the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision — is utilized well.

"Your duty is how to ensure that this potential demographic bonus can be managed properly. Of course, we want the existing human resources to truly become the nation's asset and strength," he said here on Thursday.

At the 2024 National Working Meeting on the Family Planning and Population Development and Acceleration of Stunting Reduction Programs, he noted that people from the productive age group are estimated to account for 70 percent of the total Indonesian population.

He said that the huge productive age population is a large capital for achieving the Golden Indonesia goal.

Therefore, he called for the proper management of the nation's human resources.

"We must anticipate the world's dynamics and challenges, where appropriate and comprehensive human development strategies and policies are increasingly crucial," he said.

Global population is estimated to cross nine billion in the next two decades, he pointed out. This will not only be followed by population aging, but also urbanization and migration flows, he said.

"On the other hand, natural resources are becoming more limited, that is disproportional to the people's increasing needs. Other challenges include global warming, trends in technological development, and geopolitical changes," he added.

He said he has high hopes from the government's family and population planning and stunting acceleration reduction programs in creating human resources who can answer these challenges.

According to him, the programs must be responsive and adaptive to the needs of human resources so that the future generation is healthy, superior, competitive, and can master science and technology.
