Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah, on Sunday, emphasized the need for Indonesia to produce competent talents to welcome a demographic bonus and pave the way for the actualization of the Golden Indonesian 2045 Vision.

According to a statement received from her office in Jakarta on Sunday, Fauziyah made the emphasis during a dialogue with Indonesian hospitality apprentices in Bangkok on the sidelines of her working visit to Thailand.

Indonesia is expected to welcome a demographic bonus in the 2030-2035 period, during which the country's population will be dominated by people of productive age ranging between 15 and 64 years old.

Fauziyah affirmed that Indonesia needs to boost the competency of its talents in order to capitalize on the period to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision and transform into a developed country.

"It is necessary to take proper steps to respond to the condition (demographic bonus), including by preparing competent talents. That way, the demographic bonus will bring about huge benefits and boost our economy," she stated.

During the dialogue, she also underscored that overseas apprenticeship programs serve as a means of the Indonesian Government to elevate the competency of national talents.

For that reason, she urged participants of such programs to make the most of the opportunities they earned. The minister then expressed hope that Indonesian apprentices in Thailand would be able to apply the knowledge they learn once returning to Indonesia.

"I will continue to relentlessly remind you all to maintain your spirit to augment your competency while maintaining Indonesia's good reputation in the eyes of the international community," she told the Indonesian apprentices.
