Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, had said the government has decided to uniformly enforce the Level 3 PPKM policy across Indonesia during Christmas and New Year.

"During Christmas and New Year, all of Indonesia will be under the regulations and provisions of Level 3 PPKM," Effendy informed in a written statement received on Thursday.

The policy is aimed at tightening the movement of the community and preventing a spike in COVID-19 cases after the year-end holidays, he said.

All regions in Indonesia, even those under Level 1 and 2 PPKM status will need to apply Level 3 PPKM regulations so that there is a uniform condition, according to Effendy.

"The agreement says the (Level 3 PPKM) rules that will prevail in Java-Bali islands and outside it will be made equal," he added.

The Level 3 PPKM policy will be valid from December 24 to January 2, 2021, Effendy said adding, the Minister of Home Affairs' ministerial instruction (Inmendagri) on the policy is currently awaited.

"The Inmendagri will serve as a guideline for the implementation of COVID-19 handling control during the Christmas and New Year holidays that will be set no later than November 22, 2021," he expounded.
