Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan has said he will study the central government's plan to impose Level 3 public activity restrictions (PPKM) at the end of the year until the New Year's holiday.

"We will study the plan," Baswedan remarked while attending the dissemination of research and resilience training results of the Disaster Mitigation School at the Jakarta Education Office on Friday.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that he agreed with the policy of tightening community activities at the end of this year and in early 2022 in Jakarta as part of efforts to reduce the rate of COVID-19 transmission.

According to Patria, the Jakarta provincial government will also adjust people's activities in tourist attractions in accordance with the Level 3 PPKM rules.

"The tourist attractions will be adjusted as before. It (PPKM implementation) is about seven days," he added.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, had said the government has decided to uniformly enforce the Level 3 PPKM policy across Indonesia during Christmas and New Year.

"During Christmas and New Year, all of Indonesia will be under the regulations and provisions of Level 3 PPKM," Effendy informed in a written statement received on Thursday.

The policy is aimed at tightening the movement of the community and preventing a spike in COVID-19 cases after the year-end holidays, he said.

All regions in Indonesia, even those under Level 1 and 2 PPKM status will need to apply Level 3 PPKM regulations so that there is a uniform condition, according to Effendy.

"The agreement says the (Level 3 PPKM) rules that will prevail in Java-Bali islands and outside it will be made equal," he added.

The Level 3 PPKM policy will be valid from December 24 to January 2, 2021, Effendy said adding, the Minister of Home Affairs' ministerial instruction (Inmendagri) on the policy is currently awaited.

"The Inmendagri will serve as a guideline for the implementation of COVID-19 handling control during the Christmas and New Year holidays that will be set no later than November 22, 2021," he expounded.
