Based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force as of Tuesday, November 23, a total of 23,788 children in Tanjungpinang are targeted for vaccination. Of the figure, 21,502 have been inoculated, thereby leaving only 2,286 children.
As for the second dose of vaccination, 80.49 percent, or 19,149 of the targeted children have received it, thereby leaving only 4,639 to be covered.
"Thank God, the rate is getting better, and all of them are expected to be vaccinated soon according to our target data," the Tanjungpinang COVID-19 Vaccination Coordinator, Riono, stated in Tanjungpinang on Wednesday.
Riono noted that children's vaccinations encouraged the formation of herd immunity against the corona virus and enable face-to-face learning activities at schools to be conducted safely and smoothly.
"Thank God, face-to-face learning activities, which are currently running, had not yet created a new cluster of COVID-19," he remarked.
He also reminded those vaccinated, with the first dose and having received the complete dose, to continue to properly follow health protocols.
They must stay vigilant and continue to wear masks upon leaving their homes.
"Although the number of COVID-19 cases in Tanjungpinang had reached zero, do not become too euphoric, and continue to apply a disciplined approach to health protocols," he affirmed.
Currently, the team of vaccinators continues to visit the residents' homes in all villages in Tanjungpinang to administer vaccines. Additionally, health facilities are open every day to offer vaccine services. They are expected to reach one hundred percent of their vaccination target and not just be limited to children or elderly but also for the general public.
