Malang, Jawa Timur (ANTARA) - The Social Affairs Ministry is assisting the victim of sexual violence and abuse in Malang, East Java, including while providing information to the police.

The psychological condition of HN, the victim of sexual violence and abuse, had improved, Ajeng Rahayu Prastiwi of the ministry's Social Worker Service Unit, said in a written statement here on Friday that

"HN's psychological condition is calmer and happier. The closeness we have built seems to be bearing fruit. We are ready to accompany the victim to provide information to investigators," Prastiwi informed.

She elaborated that the ministry, through the social worker service unit, had actively been involved since the start of this case. Currently, the victim is under full supervision and receiving comprehensive assistance at the Bima Sakti Child Protection and Social Services Unit (PPSPA) in Batu City.

The team has continued to build rapport with the 13-year-old victim and also provided social and emotional support. The assistance provided was in accordance with the instructions of Social Affairs Minister, Tri Rismaharini.

The Balai Antasena team collaborates with the Social Worker Service Unit and the Social Affairs Office for Women's Protection, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (P3AP2KB) to provide assistance for the third police investigation report process.

The assistance will be offered in the third police investigation report process to be conducted at the Malang City Police Station. In addition, the team will coordinate with the police to provide recommendations to the perpetrators before P21.

Social worker from the Magelang Antasena Center, Diamira, who provided assistance, added that various therapies conducted by the team had a positive impact on the victim.

Currently, the victim can communicate well, albeit still traumatized by the perpetrators. The victim also complained of pain in the head and stomach.

The 13-year-old victim was abused by peers on November 18, 2021. The incident took place when the victim was taken by one of the suspects to a place and then engaged in intercourse.

However, the wife of the alleged perpetrator of the rape found out about the incident. She then brought along some of her friends to interrogate the victim and committed further violent acts.

The police have examined 10 witnesses, all of which were children. Seven were taken as suspects in cases of sexual intercourse and abuse. The other three were returned to their parents.

Of the seven suspects, one person is the perpetrator of rape while the other six are perpetrators of violence. Six of them were detained at the Malang City Police's juvenile detention cell, while one was not detained for being under 14.
