Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - The Social Affairs Ministry collaborated with the Finance Ministry to distribute social aid for at least 120 vulnerable people in Malang district, East Java, on Friday.

Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini said that her ministry has allocated social aid for people from some vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people living with disabilities, and orphans since December 2022.

“The Social Affairs Ministry, on food assistance, they have been distributed since December. That's for elderly people, people with disabilities, including aid for orphans," she informed.

Rismaharini and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati distributed the social aid under the programs of National Economic Hero (PENA), Integrated Prosperity House (RST), and Social Rehabilitation Assistance (Atensi) for people living with disabilities, Atensi for orphans, and food for the elderly and people living with disabilities.

The aid was given to some 120 representatives of beneficiary families.

Of the total recipients, 30 were people with disabilities, comprising eight people with vision problems, eight people with physical disabilities, nine mentally challenged people, four people who were hard of hearing, and one elderly person, she informed.

The aid included entrepreneurship packages for 30 people, eight adaptive walking sticks, three adaptive wheelchairs, three walking aids, a wheelchair, four hearing aids, and two motorcycles for trade purposes.

"For aid such as adaptive sticks, special wheelchairs, those are not in Indonesian markets. So we craft it ourselves, made by our fellows with disabilities," the minister said.

Food has also been provided to people living with disabilities in 24 provinces, comprising 171 districts and cities, with the total number of beneficiaries reaching 35,459 and the budget amounting to Rp23.2 billion.
