The authorities will continue to monitor the implementation of the regulations and impose strict sanctions to the violators.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government issued the Addendum to Circular Letter (SE) Number 24 of 2021 to control people’s mobility and socio-economic activities during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays to curb the transmission of COVID-19.

"The government continues to handle the COVID-19 pandemic with controlled tightening and relaxing policies," Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate noted in a statement on Tuesday.

The circular regulates that people over 17 years of age that have not yet received the full dose vaccination or cannot receive it at all due to medical reasons are temporarily not allowed to travel.

In addition, people looking to undertake long-distance journey using means of transportation are required to bring along complete vaccination certificates and negative rapid antigen test results taken within 24 hours before departure.

However, the requirements are excluded for people taking routine trips by private vehicles, means of public transportation, or trains operating in one agglomeration area.

The requirements are also exempted for people travelling by pioneering transportation in border as well as outermost, remote, and underdeveloped (3T) areas, and people undertaking a journey in limited cruise area, which is an area with a maximum distance of 100 miles between two ports.

Furthermore, the minister remarked that logistics and other goods transportation drivers in the Java and Bali islands also have to show the complete vaccination certificates and the negative rapid antigen test results.

Meanwhile, logistics and other goods transportation drivers outside the Java and Bali islands are only required to show negative rapid antigen test results taken within 24 hours before departure.

In addition, long-distance travelers under the age of 12 years taking all forms of transportation are only required to bring negative RT-PCR results taken within 72 hours before departure.

"The addendum will take effect on December 24, 2021, until January 2, 2022," Plate noted.

Plate urged the public to obey the rules for the common good.

In addition, the minister sought cooperation from all parties to strive to prevent COVID-19 cases from spiking. Thus, the pandemic can be controlled, and all people can return to their normal activities safely.

"The authorities will continue to monitor the implementation of regulations and impose strict sanctions on the violators," he added.
