"The prospects for the gaming development sector in 2022 are huge as Indonesia has more than 60 million ever-growing gamers population. We must take advantage of this potential to achieve the fourth-largest global economy by 2045," Uno said at the grand final of 2021 Esports President's Cup in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Saturday.
The 2021 Esports President's Cup exhibited the government's synergy in national esports development, from the development of human resources to the ecosystem around the sector, he added.

The Presidential Chief of Staff, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI), and the Esports Federation of Indonesia lent their support for the competition, the minister noted.
Uno pointed out that his ministry had assisted in the development of Lokapala, an indigenously developed mobile game that was featured in the 2021 Esports President's Cup.
"Lokapala is one of our greatest achievements because we were involved in the game's development. We will continue providing facilities and training incubation to other local game developers," the minister said.
He also reiterated the ministry's commitment to providing direct, beneficial, and timely assistance to local game developers.
"We hope local game developers can develop games as successful as PUBG, Mobile Legend, and Free Fire. We also hope this event could exhibit the huge esports potential in Indonesia and encourage game developers to be innovative, creative, and adaptive in developing their games," Uno said.
