We know about a good method in managing our natural resources, and we must also implement those good methods
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar reiterated the necessity of collaboration and work inclusiveness among the central government, regional authorities, and the general public, including youth, to restore environmental conditions in the country.

"What is essential for us is how we conceive our way to help the central and regional government to restore the environment," the minister noted in a statement here on Monday.

Bakar recently led a tree-planting event held simultaneously across Indonesia's 34 provinces from Bali on Sunday (Dec 19), with some 10 thousand youngsters involved and a total of 86 thousand tree saplings planted in the nationwide event.

The tree-planting event exhibited the Indonesian youth's determination to contribute to restoring the environment through inclusive and collective efforts, she remarked.

The minister lauded Green Leaders Indonesia (GLI) among the Indonesian youth communities that played their role to initiate the nationwide tree-planting event.

Bakar also drew attention to a community dedicated to managing natural resources in Datah Village, Karangasem District, Bali Province, that has remained persistent in its efforts to conserve the quality of soil and water in dry land in their village and allowed others to use the dry land as a sandbox to develop a comprehensive natural conservation method.

On a broader scale, the conservation effort made by the community could also help others to develop effective methods in disaster mitigation, especially hydro-meteorological disasters, and address the impacts of climate change, the minister remarked.

Bakar expressed hope that the Indonesian youth would learn about natural conservation methods from other communities with similar missions and develop a scientific-based and systematic conservation method.

"We know about a good method in managing our natural resources, and we must also implement those good methods," the minister stated.
