I will urge both SOEs and private businesses, either in mining or farm industries across villages, to involve village-owned enterprises in their activities.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has urged State-Owned Enterprises (SEOs) and the private sector to involve village-owned enterprises in conducting their businesses.

The president made the statement during the launch of village-owned enterprise certificates and opening of the village-owned national coordinating meeting televised from the Presidential YouTube’s channel here on Monday.

“I will urge both SOEs and private businesses, either in mining or farm industries across villages, to involve village-owned enterprises in their activities,” he remarked.

The president urged village-owned enterprises to not solely remain spectators to the activities of SOEs and private sector.

“Do not be the spectators that only watch the trucks passing and carrying the huge plantation products. The residents only watch the mines being explored in villages. They only watch. Do involve them. I firmly will tell them to involve village-owned enterprises in their activities,” he said.

He also reiterated that since 2014, the government had committed to building Indonesia from the periphery and borders and no longer apply Java-centric but the Indonesia-centric concept.

“What we have built are not only big infrastructures, such as toll roads, ports, and airports, but also the roads and ponds in villages in addition to having renovated the markets in there,” he remarked.
