Solo (ANTARA) - Adi Soemarmo Airport in Boyolali, Central Java, projects an increase in passenger count during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year period after the central government cancelled implementation of community mobility restriction (PPKM) level 3.

"In comparison with air transport passenger movements for the year-end holidays during the 2020 period reaching 21,702, passenger movement for the year-end holidays this year was estimated to reach 31,248, or an increase of 43 percent," General Manager of State-Owned Airport Operator PT Angkasa Pura I Office at Adi Soemarmo Airport Yani Ajat Hermawan stated on Saturday.

To this end, Hermawan expressed optimism that all business partners would put forward the perspectives of security, safety, and service in accordance with the scope of their respective duties and functions.

"This step is expected to minimize troubles on the field. In addition, we invite all stakeholders of the Adi Soemarmo Airport to continue to implement health protocols since all airport entities are on the frontline in the efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19," he remarked.

In a bid to improve security, safety, and services ahead of the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays, his side has prepared an Air Transport Command Post for the holiday period.

"The Air Transport Command Post for this holiday period is intended to facilitate coordination among officers, business partners, and work partners, who are directly or indirectly involved in organizing air transportation services for the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year," Hermawan remarked.

Hermawan said his side is prioritizing the comfort and safety of all passengers and is in accordance with the applicable health protocols.

The Air Transport Command Post would open for 19 days, from December 17, 2021, to January 4, 2022.

Meanwhile, during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays, Adi Soemarmo Airport collaborated with the Port Health Office (KKP) of the Adi Soemarmo Airport Work Area and provided a COVID-19 vaccination center for aircraft passengers.
