Pertamina's seriousness in implementing GCG can be seen from its proactive efforts to increase the involvement of legal institutions in its business processes and company projects.
Therefore, throughout 2020 and up to now, Pertamina has carried out strategic cooperation with several law enforcement agencies, including the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP), the Indonesian Attorney General's Office and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

For instance, the company and PPATK have established cooperation in data exchange for investigations of the prevention and eradication of money laundering or other criminal acts.
Apart from PPATK, Pertamina also continues to collaborate with BPKP to conduct company audits.
Meanwhile, the cooperation with the National Police is carried out, among others, in terms of supervision and assistance in the procurement process for strategic projects, such as the construction, development, and operation of oil refineries and petrochemicals.
Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati at the Leaders Forum event in August 2021 said that Pertamina as a state-owned enterprise has managed the national energy business as a whole -- from upstream to downstream as well as from national strategic programs to government assignments -- and has run all its businesses by implementing the GCG within the framework of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

This is in line with the goal no 16 of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) which is related to the development of effective and accountable institutions with a target of zero tolerance for fraud and corruption.
To that end, Pertamina has continued to improve synergy with KPK to strengthen the implementation of GCG within the framework of ESG principles, particularly in the aspect of governance in all the lines of business and company operations.
As a result, it is not surprising that KPK and BPK appreciate Pertamina's commitment to fighting fraud to prevent corruption.
Such an appreciation was expressed by Deputy Chair of the KPK Nurul Ghufron and the Main Auditor of BPK Investigation Hery Subowo during a webinar to commemorate World Anti-Corruption Day held on December 8, 2021.

On the occasion, the KPK praised the whistleblower system built by Pertamina which provides space for complaints that could be used for early anticipation and prevention of fraud and corruption.
On the same occasion, the President Commissioner of Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, emphasized the importance of maintaining the monitoring mechanisms put in place by Pertamina in collaboration with the KPK and BPK.
Those mechanisms, said Purnama, must be carried out continuously so that Pertamina's target of becoming a world-class leading energy company with a market value of US$100 billion can be realized by 2024.
