We will maintain church security to ensure the conduct of afternoon and evening Mass remains smoothBogor, West Java (ANTARA) - Seventy-eight churches organizing offline Christmas Mass and activities in Bogor city, West Java were observing the health protocols, the city's police chief, Senior Commissioner Susatyo, informed on Saturday.
"The Christmas Mass has been organized smoothly, with health protocols observed. We will maintain church security to ensure the conduct of afternoon and evening Mass remains smooth," he said at Baranangsiang police station, Bogor.
A total of 1,400 joint military and police personnel comprising 800 police officers, 300 army personnel, and 300 municipal police officers have been mobilized to maintain security in Bogor city during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, he informed.

The joint forces have been divided into groups, with six groups dispatched to places of interest in the city that can potentially attract crowds, and other officers have been stationed at culinary centers and Bogor's 18 tourism attractions, the police chief said.
Susatyo said that he and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto had reviewed the security situation in the city on Christmas Eve (December 24, 2021). Security checkpoints at Bogor Nirwana Residence and Bogor outer ring road intersections were among the places reviewed by the mayor, he informed.
The mayor also observed Mass at the Pentecostal Church of Bogor, Protestant Church of Zebaoth, Protestant Church of Petra, Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and several other churches, he added.

During the visit, Susatyo assured that the police would guard all churches in Bogor, both churches with large congregations and small churches.
The police will also monitor health protocol enforcement at churches and coordinate with church officials to ensure health protocol compliance during Christmas Mass and other church activities, he said.
"We will continue the monitoring 24/7 to ensure that security in the city will be under control till the New Year's Eve," Susatyo added.
