Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) are preparing security measures to safeguard the holding of the World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEF-EA) here on June 12, 13, 2011.

For that purpose, Jakarta Regional Military Chief Maj. Gen. Waris, in his capacity of the commander of WEF-EA Pacification Command (Koopspam) led a call for preparedness at the Presidential Guard Command Headquarters here on Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Waris called on all security components who were involved in the pacification command to cooperate and team up professionally based on their respective tasks and responsibilities in safeguarding WEFEA 2011.

"We hope that with this preparedness this regional agenda would run, in orderly manner, peacefully, smoothly and successfully," he said.

He said that the first target was to assure the event would be held securely and smoothly and secondly was to ensure security for VVIP trips during attending the WEF-EA activities.

Besides, the aim of the pacification was to guaranteed security in places used to carry out WEF-EA activities, including hotels where the VVIP guests stayed.

The call for preparedness was attended by all members of the joint TNI, Polri task force.

Some 620 policy makers representing government, industry, academia and companies will participate in the World Economic Forum on East Asia here on June 12-13, 2011.

Indonesia`s delegation will consist of officials from the coordinating ministry for economic affairs, the foreign affairs ministry, the finance ministry and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

The country`s delegates will also include representatives of Pertamina, Bank Mandiri, BNI 46, Group Lippo, Group Sintesa, Bumi Resources, Indika Energy, PT EMTEK, PT Smart, PT. Indorama, Quvat, PT Astra International Tbk, Agung Podomoro Group, and PT Gajah Tunggal.

The Forum will discuss global issues such as commodity prices, energy and food resilience, the role of businesses in supporting the national economy, and agriculture sector development.
