At the opening of the 2024 National Development Planning Conference at JCC Senayan here on Monday, President Jokowi said that all countries in the world are currently wary of oil prices and loan interests.
"All of the countries are afraid of the price of oil, and secondly, the issue of loan interest. All are afraid of this problem because once loan interest rises just a little, the fiscal burden will be very large," he explained.
He said that currently, all countries are faced with a challenging situation amid expectations of global economic growth reaching just 3.2 percent.
According to him, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is still being felt today, as evidenced by a number of countries entering economic recession, such as Japan and the United Kingdom, as well as several European countries.
Therefore, Widodo requested that fiscal and budget management be carried out wisely so that development targets are not missed.
"Therefore, we must carefully manage every money in our budget. Pay close attention to the priority scale," he added.
He said that there is a need to synchronize long- and medium-term development plans through the Government Work Program (RKP).
He expressed the hope that the 2024 National Development Planning Conference, themed "Acceleration of Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth," would synchronize the development agenda of the central, provincial, district and city governments.
