Jakarta (ANTARA) - At least 110,812,856 Indonesians have received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of 12 p.m. local time on Monday, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force has reported.



The number of people who have received the full dose increased by 192,049 on Monday, based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force that ANTARA accessed here on Monday.



Meanwhile, the number of people who have received the first dose increased by 353,008 to reach 156,994,786.



The third or booster dose of the vaccine is currently being provided only to health workers. So far, 1,280,673 health workers have received the booster vaccine. However, their number did not appear to have risen since Sunday (December 26, 2021), the task force noted.



According to the task force, the government is still aiming to vaccinate 208,265,720 Indonesians so that herd immunity can be formed quickly amid the rise of new variants of COVID-19 due to mutations.



Furthermore, the number of active cases has continued to decrease, it said. For instance, the number of coronavirus cases declined by 159 across Indonesia on Monday to reach 4,496, it added.

However, the number of people confirmed positive for COVID-19 grew by 120, it reported. Based on the task force's data, 4,261,879 cases have been recorded throughout the country so far.



The number of deaths increased by 8 on Monday, bringing the total death toll to 144,063.



Meanwhile, the number of people recovering from the virus increased by 271, taking total recoveries to 4,113,320.



As many as 231,889 specimens from various COVID-19 tests were examined, while 2,696 people were categorized as suspects on Monday, with daily specimen positivity rate recorded at 0.11 percent and daily person positivity rate at 0.07 percent, according to the task force.

With the end of the year nearing, the COVID-19 Task Force urged people to complete vaccinations without delay to avoid contracting variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that has continued to mutate.



The public is also expected to be more disciplined in carrying out the health protocols, such as wearing masks properly, washing hands with soap, maintaining distance, and reducing mobility to avoid the Omicron variant, it added.
