Hence, the pharmaceutical industry in Japan utilizes the nutrients in these plantsJakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's ornamental plant exports clocked a notable rise of up to 69.7 percent, or US$10.77 million, during the January-September 2021 period as compared to the corresponding time frame in the previous year.
The export component of Indonesian ornamental plants is dominated by flower products and fresh cut flower buds reaching as much as 26.92 percent, followed by mosses and lichens at 22.54 percent and other types of ornamental plants by 50.53 percent.
"Global community activities, which are gradually increasing, have a positive impact on Indonesia's ornamental plant exports, which grew 69.73 percent," Rini Satriani, head of the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI)/Indonesia Eximbank (IEB) Division, remarked here on Wednesday.

During the January-September 2021 period, Japan was listed as the main importer of ornamental plants from Indonesia, with a market share of 32.23 percent, followed by Singapore, 15.55 percent; the United States, 13.12 percent; the Netherlands, 13.03 percent; and China, 5.60 percent.
Meanwhile, a 31.72-percent increase in the exports of ornamental plants from Indonesia to Japan was recorded during the January-September 2021 period as compared to $3.47 million in the previous year. The increase was driven by exports of mosses and lichen products.

Moreover, Singapore boosted export value growth by 97.37 percent to reach $1.67 million as compared to the previous year. The increase was driven by exports of grafted plants and cut flowers due to public demand for flower bouquets for celebratory ceremonies and decorative purposes.
Based on data from trademap.org compiled by LPEI, the Netherlands in 2020 became the main importer of ornamental plant products from Indonesia, with an export value of $134.76 million, followed by the UK, at $65.68 million; Italy, $59.62 million; Denmark, $37.28 million; and Germany, $28.15 million.
Based on data from Panjiva, 70 ornamental plant exporters seized opportunities in the midst of the pandemic in 2020, with West Java Province recording the largest number of ornamental plant exporters in Indonesia, reaching up to 25.

DKI Jakarta came in second place, with 19 exporters, followed by Central Java, with seven exporters; Banten, with six exporters; and East Java, with four exporters.
Most ornamental plant business players contributed an export value of under $100 thousand per year, while their flagship products are fresh cut flower and flower buds, moose moss and lichen and other types of ornamental plants.
