We have five mobile vaccination cars, which can be used for thisSemarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has pinned hopes on the COVID-19 vaccination program covering out-of-school kids, including street children, in all districts and cities in the region.
"I entrust it on them because children are not only those who go to school, but (also) children who are not in school, including street children. Thus, we call for fellows, who are concerned over them, to gather them," he noted in Boyolali District, Central Java on Wednesday.
Pranowo affirmed that the door-to-door strategy could be employed to provide COVID-19 vaccination services to children, who are not in school, such as street children.
In addition, Pranowo noted that vaccination cars can be deployed to support the implementation of vaccination services for street children.
"We have five mobile vaccination cars, which can be used for this. Moreover, there are community groups (that take care of) street children, so we will invite them to participate later on. These community groups are cool. (This is since) they have been accompanying them (all along, so they) understand their psyche, and all (the government) got to do is prepare for vaccination," he noted.
The governor stated that in Central Java, vaccination services are still being offered for children in the age bracket of six to 11 years.
Pranowo noted that his administration and the government were striving to boost the vaccination rate for children aged six to 11 years by hosting vaccination programs in schools.
"That is the fastest way (to do it), and the children tend to be happier in reacting to the vaccine situation, (given they are) together with their friends. And, hopefully, the vaccination rate will be (achieved) faster," he remarked.
The governor noted in Pekalongan on December 20 that two million children aged six to 11 years in Central Java Province were targeted for vaccination.
