We still have quite a lot of stock and this requires the help of all elements to speed up vaccination
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Just seven provinces are yet to meet the 70-percent COVID-19 vaccination target for the first dose, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has informed.

"Previously, President Joko Widodo targeted all provinces to achieve 70 percent of COVID-19 vaccination for the first dose, there are only seven provinces left," Sadikin noted in a press statement released on Monday.

The seven provinces comprise West Kalimantan, West Sumatra, Aceh, West Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua, he informed.

"Those are the provinces that have not reached 70-percent COVID-19 vaccination for the first dose," he said.

The government has received 390 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine out of which around 281 million have been administered to citizens, he disclosed.

"We still have quite a lot of stock and this requires the help of all elements to speed up vaccination," he remarked.

Earlier, spokesperson for COVID-19 vaccinations for the Ministry of Health Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, had said that Indonesia had closed 2021 with a significant vaccination achievement.

A total of 280 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to the community based on data collected as of 7.30 p.m. local time on December 31, 2021, she informed.

The figure of 280 million covered the combined administration of the first, second, and third doses, while the national vaccination target stood at 208.2 million people, she noted.

The first dose had been provided to 165.2 million recipients, the second dose to 113.8 million recipients, and the third dose to 1.3 million recipients, she informed.

The 280 million doses achieved were higher than the calculated estimate of 277 million doses, she pointed out.

"We laud the great work of officials in the field. With the help from all elements, we can reach 280 million doses of vaccines by the end of 2021," Tarmizi said in a written statement issued on January 1.

The Health Ministry is aiming to complete vaccinating 208.2 million citizens by the middle of 2022.
