"New year means new optimism and hope. New opportunities in several sectors in national development will flourish, as the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control in 2022," Moerdijat noted in her written statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Members of parliament must ensure that the citizens' optimism and hope in 2022 would remain strong by striving to realize plans and promises to support recovery in several sectors in society, she noted.
The deputy speaker also reminded legislators to stand by their promise to complete popular bills that have been expected by the public this year.

Moerdijat highlighted that the Sexual Violence Prevention Bill, Domestic Workers Protection Bill, and Customary Law Community Bill are among several bills that must be passed in 2022 after being deliberated by the House of Representatives (DPR RI) for years.
As the government successfully brought the COVID-19 pandemic under control, the parliament is ought to be able to continue deliberations on bills without any difficulties, she affirmed.
"Residents' expectations on the ratification of the bills are very high, as the bill, once finalized as law, will protect residents from any threats that they may face," the deputy speaker remarked.
She opined that the bills' progress would hinge on the DPR RI leadership, as they must encourage MPs to deliberate and complete the bills.
"Let them show their true intention this year, which is either that they sincerely want to realize prosperity and security among our people or they will only care for their own clique," Moerdijat affirmed.
