The PCR test results have come out. Nine are confirmed positive, and some people are still waiting for the results
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Police are pushing for COVID-19 tracing after nine staff members of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport contracted the virus.

The nine staff members, testing positive for COVID-19, reportedly live in a boarding house in the Kalideres area, West Jakarta.

"We will oversee the testing and tracing process, that is for sure. Officers and the task force will expedite these efforts," West Jakarta Police Chief, Commissioner Ady Wibowo, affirmed here on Tuesday.

Some 74 residents around the boarding house have, so far, undergone PCR tests. Currently, they are self-isolating at their respective homes while awaiting the test results.

Wibowo also emphasized the possibility of subjecting more people to PCR tests in order to broaden the scope of tracing.

The commissioner expects these efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Kalideres and aid in preventing the infection from spreading to other neighborhoods and giving rise to new clusters.

Nine Soekarno-Hatta Airport staff members residing in Kalideres Sub-district, West Jakarta, were infected with COVID-19 after the PCR test they took at the public health center came back positive.

"The PCR test results have come out. Nine are confirmed positive, and some people are still waiting for the results," Head of the Kalideres Sub-district Public Order Officer, Selvi Rahmawati, stated here on Monday, December 3.

Rahmawati remarked that the nine people lived in the same boarding house on Daan Mogot Street, Kalideres, West Jakarta. However, the virus' variant had yet to be determined.

Most occupants of the boarding house work at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport. In the wake of the findings of nine people, who tested positive for COVID-19, on Monday, December 3, other residents in the boarding house and their neighbors that had come in close contact also underwent a PCR swab test.

The effort was made to ensure that the COVID-19 virus did not spread to other residents.

"The nine people did not necessarily have Omicron, as the virus has its own specifications," she remarked.

Until now, nine patients were taken to the Kemayoran Athlete's Wisma to self-isolate.
