The flooding also swamped agricultural areas and roads, Head of BPBD Solok Armen said on Saturday night .
"Alhamdulillah (Thanks Allah), so far, based on the information we have gathered, there have been no casualties owing to the disaster," he said.
"Currently residents together with officers of BPBD, firefighters, and others are trying to help clean the affected pubic facilities and residents' houses from mud," he added.
He called on the residents to not panic and to remain vigilant and be prepared for the impact of flooding.
Indonesia is currently experiencing rainy season,and several provinces such as West Sumatra, Aceh, and Papua were affected by flooding recently. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has recorded a total of 68 natural disasters during the first week of January 2022.
Most of the disasters occurring from January 1 to 8, 2022, were hydrometeorological ones including 38 floods and 12 landslides. So far, the disasters had claimed seven lives, injured 15 others, and displaced 140,620 people.
