For the time being, the PTM will be continued
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta schools will continue 100-percent face-to-face learning (PTM) despite the recent increase in Omicron cases, deputy governor Ahmad Riza Patria said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday.

"For the time being, the PTM will be continued. A decision will be made later. We await the policy from the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry, and the Education Office," he informed.

Patria asked Jakarta residents to continue to implement the health protocols and to limit their activities and mobility even after they have been vaccinated.

"We urge residents to stay at home, be more careful, be cautious, do not let your guard down, and do not be euphoric even though you have been vaccinated," he remarked.

"We know that Omicron has a faster infection rate than the other variants," he pointed out.

Separately, head of public relations at Jakarta's Education Office, Taga Radja Gah, said that full offline learning will continue to be carried out in the capital.

Face-to-face learning will be conducted based on Four Ministers Joint Decree on Learning Activities during the COVID-19 Pandemic Guide, despite Jakarta's public activity restriction (PPKM) status rising to Level 2, he added.

However, the policy could be revised if the PPKM level in Jakarta is raised because the PPKM level is one of the benchmarks for full face-to-face learning evaluation, he said.

According to the joint decree, only regions with Level 1 or 2 PPKM can conduct 100-percent face-to-face learning.

If the PPKM status in Jakarta becomes Level 3, then a new policy will be formulated, which will allow face-to-face learning at 50-percent capacity, much like in 2021, the official explained.

As per data provided by the Jakarta provincial government, 10,429 schools in the capital city launched 100-percent face-to-face learning at the beginning of 2022.
