"We always coordinate our steps for this common goal, and we are striving to maintain synergy between the Attorney General's Office and the SOEs Ministry," Burhanuddin told journalists at the Attorney General's Office in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Attorney General had welcomed State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, who had visited his office to report on the financial case that was plaguing the state-owned airline Garuda Indonesia.
The attorney general confirmed that he and Thohir had discussed issues relevant to Garuda Indonesia and the general situation within the SOEs Ministry during their meeting.
"We have discussed the restructuration of Garuda Indonesia and the ministry's report regarding suspected issues pertaining to the airline's purchase of ATR 72-600 aircraft. During the meeting, I also reiterate my support to the SOEs Ministry," Burhanuddin noted.
He pointed out that synergy between the attorney general and SOEs Ministry had successfully brought to light earlier cases of corruption involving state-owned insurance companies PT Asuransi Jiwasraya and PT Asabri (Persero).
The attorney general is confident that synergy with the ministry would also uncover the issue plaguing the national flag carrier.
Meanwhile, SOEs Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that synergy with the Attorney General's Office, apart from successfully identifying the main culprit involved in the corruption crime in state-owned enterprises, also motivates the ministry to improve its management and administration.
"This synergy encourages us to continue the process of transformation of state-owned enterprises and 'clean' the enterprises (of corrupt practices)," Thohir stated.
Apart from discussing the national airline's restructuration plan, the minister paid a visit to also submit some evidence regarding likely issues regarding the purchase of ATR 72-600 aircraft.
"We provide evidence from the investigative audit, so it is not an accusation because if we want to accuse someone, we need to provide the facts," Thohir stated.
