Lebak, Banten (ANTARA) - The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Lebak District, Banten Province, has distributed food packages to residents suffering from the impacts of a 6.6-magnitude earthquake that jolted the area of Sumur Sub-district in Pandeglang District, on January 14, 2022.

"We have distributed basic assistance needs to the affected residents through the heads of local villages," Head of the agency's emergency and logistics section, Agus Riza Faisal, said here on Monday.

The food packages have been distributed to 274 families, according to the scale of damage their houses have suffered, he informed.

Currently, Lebak BPBD has distributed logistical assistance to 19 sub-districts, including Cihara, Banjarsari, Cijaku, Malimping, Wanasalam, Gunungkencana, Cibadak, and Cirinten, he said.

The relief aid packages had been disbursed in the sub-districts of Sobang, Cikulur, Rangkasbitung, Lebakgedong, Cigemblong, Leuwidamar, Bayah, Cibeber, Panggarangan, Bojongmanik, and Cimarga as well, he added.

The food packages contain rice, side dishes, instant noodles, cooking oil, packaged drinks, and dry food, he informed.

"The distribution of this assistance is to ease the economic burden on those affected by the tectonic earthquake," Faizal said.

Logistics distribution to residents affected by the quake is carried out every three days during the emergency response period, he informed.

The logistical assistance is provided so that the community does not run out of food, he said.

"We are concentrating the aid on the food needs so that the earthquake victims can meet their consumption needs and are able to live a decent life," he added.

Meanwhile, Head of North Cigoong Village in Cikulur Sub-district, Habibi said that he is currently responsible for handling and distributing logistical assistance received from the local BPBD.

Currently, there are five families in the area who have been affected by the earthquake and whose houses have been damaged, he informed.

"We are happy to receive logistical assistance for our residents who get affected by the earthquake," Habibi said.
