Jakarta (ANTARA) - A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Maluku province on Wednesday night, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) informed.

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 9.29 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time), was located 62 kilometers southwest of the eastern part of Seram island, at a depth of 85 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of material damage or fatalities.

Maluku is among the Indonesian provinces that are prone to earthquakes.
