The data of the Health Ministry that was leaked and traded on the dark web was not PeduliLindungi data
Jakarta (ANTARA) - COVID-19 patients' data belonging to the Indonesian Health Ministry was not leaked from the PeduliLindungi application, National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Head Hinsa Siburian clarified.

"The data of the Health Ministry that was leaked and traded on the dark web was not PeduliLindungi data," Siburian remarked at a meeting with Commission I of the House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex here on Thursday.

According to the agency's head, each directorate general at the ministry has its own system and the leaked COVID-19 patient data of the Health Ministry had not been registered in the BSSN's network back then.

Hence, Siburian noted that the BSSN was focusing on securing data stored on the PeduliLindungi app by conducting an evaluation and arranging plans for data security.

On August 23-26, 2021, he stated that the agency had conducted security assessments on the COVID-19 tracking applications, such as PeduliLindungi, Silacak, e-care, and the Health Ministry's New All Record (NAR) system.

BSSN also monitored security systems with several ministries, coordinating ministries, state telecommunication firm PT Telkom, and a private company, he pointed out.

As a result, BSSN recommended the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and the Ministry of Health to implement web- and network-based security techniques on the PeduliLindungi app to prevent possible cyberattacks.

The agency also conducted traffic anomalies on PeduliLindungi, which is stored in the national data center owned by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. Moreover, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency has installed a sensor on the PeduliLindungi app to monitor it from the cybersecurity headquarter.

On September 17-24, 2021, the BSSN had conducted a feasibility test that showed that PT Telkom can use the backup cloud for PeduliLindungi, Siburian highlighted.

He noted that the BSSN also stores backup data of 2.98 million COVID-19 patients at the cybersecurity headquarter.
