Samarinda, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Banjar people in East Kalimantan have been urged to develop human resources in response to the shift of Indonesia's capital city (IKN) to the province so that they can compete professionally.

"Banjar people must prepare themselves from now on to continue to improve their skills in responding to the transference of the new national capital city to East Kalimantan province," general chairman of the East Kalimantan Banjar Bubuhan Harmony, Irianto Lambrie, said at an event hosted at the Plenary Hall of the Madya Sempaja Sports Building in Samarinda on Saturday.

The National Capital City Bill was ratified into law during a plenary meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday (January 18, 2022), he noted. Thus, it has set the ball rolling for the establishment of the new national capital in East Kalimantan, he said.

He called the bill a blessing to be grateful for, which could be shown through efforts to boost the quality of human resources so that Banjar people can contribute to building the nation.
