Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta 5 Special School was temporarily closed after it was established that two members of the educational institution were exposed to COVID-19 on January 28, 2022.

"Two educators have tested positive since January 28. Hence, we immediately pressed for a swab test for those at the school comprising employees, teachers, and students," Eni Pujiastuti, headmaster of the West Jakarta 5 Special School, stated here on Friday.

After the discovery, the school, through the Pal Merah Public Health Center, has made efforts to conduct tracing on all staff members in the West Jakarta 5 Special School since January 31.

However, the PCR results of the teachers have yet to be released.

"So far, we have not received the PCR results for teachers, educators, and students that have come in direct contact," Pujiastuti stated.

Pujiastuti said her administration would apply the Distance Learning or online method based on the PCR test results by Monday, January 7.

The school will also regularly disinfect all school rooms.

Several schools in West Jakarta had been closed, as several students and teachers had been exposed to COVID-19. One of the schools closed was the West Jakarta 35 Vocational High School.

Headmaster of the West Jakarta 35 Vocational High School, Sopandi, remarked that nine students and two teachers had tested positive for COVID-19 when the Krukut Village administration was conducting COVID-19 tracing in the red-tagged zone.

Since the school is in the red zone area, some students and teachers are required to take a swab test provided by the Public Health Center, he stated. Based on these results, nine students and two teachers had tested positive.

Recently, the government of West Jakarta confirmed that some four thousand cases had been recorded as of Thursday, February 3, and the figure was expected to increase along with extensive efforts to trace close contacts.
