We will continue to improve the 3T, testing, tracing, and treatment, despite Jakarta being a province with the highest 3T practice
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government will expedite sample testing, tracking, and treatment measures to stem COVID-19 transmission following the re-establishment of the community activity restrictions status to level three.

"We will continue to improve the 3T, testing, tracing, and treatment, despite Jakarta being a province with the highest 3T practice," Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria stated after attending a plenary meeting at the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives Building on Monday.

The capacity for testing would be increased, from 15 to a minimum of 30 people, he remarked.

According to Instruction of the Home Affairs Ministry Number 6 of 2022 on Community Activities Restriction that ends on Monday, February 7, testing requirements will be increased in accordance with the positive case ratio or weekly positivity rate.

If the weekly positive case ratio was less than 15 to less than 25 percent, then the number of tests was 10 people per one thousand population per week.

On the other hand, if the ratio of positive cases was capped above 25 percent, then the number of tests would be 15 people per one thousand population per week.

"This will be increased to 30. At least that way, we (would) go according to the rules and regulations as is in accordance with the SOPs, (advice) from experts, and also the policies of the Central Government," he remarked.

So far, the testing capacity in Jakarta is higher and also exceeds the standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Data from the Jakarta Provincial Government as of Sunday, February 6, indicated that in the past week, positive cases in the capital city had reached 22 percent, with 331,498 people being tested by PCR-based swabs.

This number exceeds the WHO target for Jakarta that reaches a minimum of 10,645 people in a week.

Some 67,219 people were either treated or being isolated, with the number of new cases reaching 7,412.

The Central Government decided to increase the status of Community Activities Restrictions in Greater Jakarta area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi) to level three.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan noted during an online evaluation press conference on Monday, February 7, that the increase in status was not due to the high number of cases but on account of the low tracing capacity.

"It is not the high number cases, but the low tracing," he stated.
