Despite the COVID-19 infection surge in February 2022 having surpassed the daily cases recorded during the July-August 2021 period during the second wave of the Delta variant, only 31 percent of the isolation beds in Bogor hospitals are currently reserved for patients with moderate to severe symptoms, he noted.
"This means most COVID-19 patients have only mild symptoms that do not require medical care at hospitals," Sugiarto noted on Tuesday.
The mayor confirmed that the bed occupancy rate in the city remains under control, as only 20 percent of all COVID-19 positive patients have severe symptoms that require hospital care.

The municipal COVID-19 task force has also reinstated task forces at the community level to monitor positive patients that are self-isolating and prevent the COVID-19 disease from infecting others in the community, he noted.
Task forces at the community level are instructed to restrict entry access only to main roads to prevent health protocol violations and deter residents from engaging in outdoor activities, the mayor remarked.

Meanwhile, Bogor City health office head Sri Nowo Retno noted that a total of 705 hospital beds were provided by 21 referral hospitals in the city.
According to Reto, out of the 705 hospital beds, only 31.4 percent, or equal to 291 beds, were occupied by COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms that necessitated medical care at hospitals.
Out of the 51 intensive care unit beds, some 16 beds were occupied by patients in critical condition, the office head remarked.
Retno confirmed that self-isolating patients will be monitored by local public health centres, COVID-19 task forces, and volunteers at their localities.
"Some 80 percent of the COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms have been instructed to self-isolate at their respective homes," she stated.
