The system can operate the train while automatically projecting train schedules under the supervision of the operation command centre
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned Jabodebek LRT operator, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI), unveiled various plans for LRT operations expected to commence in August 2022, including the planned operational hours from 5:45 a.m. to 11 p.m. local time.

PT KAI VP for the public relations department Joni Martinus stated that the operational hours are planned to cater to public activities from the earliest time of the day until close to midnight.

"To cater to the public and ensure facilities and infrastructure are optimum, PT KAI has conceived Jabodebek LRT's operation plans, including the planned operational hours," Martinus noted in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The railway operator will conduct daily checks and maintenance of LRT trains and facilities after their operational hours, he remarked.

PT KAI has also planned to maintain a short headway of six minutes for the Harjamukti-Cawang and Jatimulya-Cawang lines and three minutes for the Cawang-Dukuh Atas line that can be modified by inputs provided by the communication-based train control system, the company official noted.

"The system can operate the train while automatically projecting train schedules under the supervision of the operation command centre," Martinus remarked.

The Jabodebek LRT operator has planned to operate up to 27 LRT train sets -- each comprising six train units -- to achieve 560 trips and 114 thousand ridership daily, he noted.

Each train set that is planned to accommodate 740 passengers -- 174 sitting and 566 standing passengers -- can be adjusted to cater up to 1,308 passengers at peak hours, the public relations official remarked.

Martinus notified that the progress in construction at Jabodebek LRT's 18 stations had reached the completion stage, with installation of station facilities being underway. The installation of elevators, escalators, stairs, toilets, platform doors, train control equipment and announcer systems, as well as medical rooms are currently in progress, he affirmed.

As work on the Jabodebek LRT has reached 78.78-percent completion by January 2022, the test commissioning will proceed from January to May, and the trial run in July and early August will precede the official operation day scheduled for August 17, 2022, Martinus revealed.

He encouraged residents to not hesitate in utilising the Jabodebek LRT service as the entire operation would be supervised by experts and consultants.

"The Jabodebek LRT operation is expected to enhance the residents' mobility and encourage economic growth in regions along the LRT line," the official remarked.
